Weather Report - Birdland
THE ORIGINAL. There are not supposed to be words to this song (coughmanhattantransfercough), but only pure, straight up jamming.
Springtime, cmon… get here faster.
Dave Brubeck - Strange Meadow Lark, Time Out 1959
I have a little bit of a soft spot for Dave Brubeck: he was the first jazz artist my mom introduced me to when I was younger. What can I say? How could you not fall in love?
Also, in general, I tend to appreciate jazz piano the most (probably because I play piano), but don’t worry, I’ll diversify my posts soon.
Thelonious Monk - ‘Round Midnight
What else would I start with? It’s the most recorded standard in jazz history, written by one of the greatest masters of the craft. Just sit back and simmer in the atmosphere.
